This guitar was custom-ordered by a loyal customer from Tangerang, a small city near Jakarta. He has previously purchased several high-end guitars from Ivan Guitar Studio and has been extremely satisfied with his first guitar. Impressed by its quality, he decided to order a second one, this time pushing the specifications to their maximum limits. He opted for an African Blackwood body, renowned as the hardest rosewood species on the planet. The extraordinary hardness and density of this wood amplify the overall volume and projection of the instrument.

Not only is African Blackwood sonically exceptional, but it is also prestigious and one of the most expensive and valuable wood species due to its rarity.

For the top, I chose sinker redwood, a rare material sourced from gigantic redwood trees that have been submerged in Californian rivers for decades. This wood offers a unique sound that I describe as a harmonious blend of spruce and cedar.

For the rosette, he requested a ‘sunburst rosette’ design. This is the first time Ivan Guitar Studio has created such a rosette, and it was quite challenging. The design was meticulously crafted from 16 pieces of wood to ensure the grain spread evenly around the soundhole.
In terms of sound, the combination of the sinker redwood top and the African Blackwood body endows this guitar with a powerful presence, characterized by clear trebles and deep bass. I am delighted that the customer is extremely happy with the result.
