IGS La Grandeur Sustenuto (Psalm 23)

IDR 66.000.000

This guitar was custom-ordered by Mr. Andre Rompis, a distinguished and successful CEO in Indonesia. Mr. Rompis has held esteemed positions as CEO of Samsung Indonesia, Unilever, Greenfields, and several other major companies. His strong financial position allows him to possess numerous high-end guitars from brands such as Taylor, Martin, and Bob Benedetto, among others.

His vision for ordering the La Grandeur guitar was to acquire a top-class musical instrument that also serves as a commemorative piece to honor his late father. Throughout his life, his father often recited Psalm 23, guiding and inspiring him to always believe in God’s grace.

“The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me”

To realize his dream guitar, I crafted a very special inlay depicting Jesus herding lambs, symbolizing that God Himself will lead the way of the righteous person. This project also marked the first time I used reconstituted wood as an inlay material to create a sunset shading effect.

For the top, I selected a very special and rare ancient flamed redwood. The unique beauty of this wood is matched by its exceptional sound, which is punchy like cedar, yet solid and full-bodied like spruce.

For the back and sides, I introduced for the first time the use of golden nanmu, a precious wood from China. Golden nanmu is celebrated for its exquisite beauty and superior sound. It is as light as Spanish cypress, a wood often used in traditional flamenco blanca guitars, but it possesses an exotic grain and physical beauty that surpass even flamed maple. Furthermore, due to its strong physical properties, this wood was historically used as pillars in the Forbidden City.

In terms of sound, the combination of the ancient flamed redwood top and golden nanmu body provides a thick, resonant tone, with solid trebles and deep, resonant bass notes.

A few days after receiving the guitar, Mr. Rompis sent me a message expressing how happy he is with his new guitar.

I am delighted to find that Mr. Rompis loves this guitar immensely. It is both a top-tier instrument and a stunning piece of art.

As with all guitars in the La Grandeur series, the setup and fretwork are performed using the PLEK System, an ultra-precise computerized system that ensures maximum precision, the lowest possible action without any buzz, and optimal playability.

In the La Grandeur series, every guitar tells a unique story. Each one is crafted as a singular piece of art, serving as a ‘piece of history’ in our customers’ lives.
