This guitar was custom-ordered by a discerning customer from Pantai Indah Kapuk, North Jakarta. The customer’s vision was to craft a guitar with an elegant aesthetic, eschewing lavish inlays in favor of showcasing the inherent beauty of exotic woods.

For the top, I selected ancient flamed redwood, an extraordinarily rare material sourced from thousand-year-old gigantic redwood trees. This wood presents a unique 3D appearance, reminiscent of flamed maple. In terms of sound, I describe it as a blend of spruce and cedar—strong and responsive like cedar, but with the rich, full-bodied tone typical of spruce.

For the rosette and inlays, he chose the standard version from the La Grandeur series. The inlays are inspired by the Jasmine flower, Indonesia’s national flower, known locally as ‘Puspa Bangsa.’ The rosette features several white mother-of-pearl dots of varying sizes, symbolizing the numerous islands that comprise the Indonesian archipelago.

The back and sides of this guitar are crafted from Bocote, an exotic wood species celebrated for its exquisite beauty and outstanding tonal qualities.

In terms of sound, the combination of the flamed redwood top and Mexican Bocote body produces a balanced tone across all registers. I am delighted that the customer is extremely satisfied with the result and immediately placed a new order upon receiving this guitar.
