My music story started when I was 4 or 5 years old playing the piano and I got interested in playing the guitar when I was 13 years old. Soon I noticed that a guitar sounded exactly what I imagined but the other didn’t when I played a passage. I was wondering why each guitar sounds different even though they look pretty much the same. That’s the reason why I got interested in the inside/structure of a guitar. I finally decided to learn guitar making when I was 21.
I learned how to make a guitar here.
I learned how to make a guitar efficiently and how to manage the business.
I learned how to organize/connect each procedure and how to use hand tools(chisels, planes and knives). My "Syokunin(職人)" mind was set thanks to Sugita san and my elder apprenticeships(Keisuke Fujii and Hiroshi Ogino).
I learned really a lot when I was his. Most of my building procedure is based on his way from how to choose wood, how to tune top and back by Chladni method, how to French polish and etc... Also I was lucky since Joshia was still working in Sergei's shop at that time. Joshia and his husband, Pat, were very kind to me and I learned a lot from them, too. Besides guitar making, I noticed how important food/diet are to be in a good shape and to keen all of 5 senses(eyesight, hearing, taste, smell, touch). The staying at de Jonge's totally changed my life and I really owe lots of lots them.
I set up my shop in Sagamiko area in Kanagawa prefecture in Japan.

My aim is to make good “tool” for players. I feel that a guitar is completed as a woodworking product in my shop and a player complete it as an instrument. A good player can make good tone which I cannot even imagine. I always understand the real tone of my guitar for the first time when a good player play it and create music. I’m always trying to make great musical tools that could help artists expressing theirselves.
Also the materials I/we use are really really precious. It’s like “ootoro (of Tsuna)”. And most part of the precious wood is gone when I carve. I have to respect the Mother Nature and make those precious wood be reborn in different shape to stay alive.
